Metalagram® Crowdsourcing

crowed teach top

The potential of crowdsourcing was revealed to the Shinkle’s from demonstrating and crowdsourcing Metalagram® artwork across the United States to thousands of individuals. Crowdsourcing accelerates the Metalagram® momentum, whereby the art created is greater than the sum of its parts. This synergistic phenomenon results from participants adding their contribution and thereby creating artwork unattainable through individual efforts.

Once individuals have an opportunity to be a part of the artistic process they become part of the Shinkle’s irresistible and revelatory journey to new layers of engagement. The Shinkle’s have been utilizing the art created by others. Participants’ contributions are empowered through use in permanent Metalagram® artworks.

Not only does the concept of Metalagram® harmoniously blend with the idea of crowdsourcing, so does the application. From working a few hours with one or two or even a large group of individuals to a span of several weeks, the duo plans the collaboration best suited for each project. Because of the many layers, techniques, and tools used in creating the art, the Shinkles design the project to take full advantage of the collaboration. Creating a crowdsourced Metalagram® artwork engages individuals and groups on many levels. When the Metalagram® Experience is displayed during the collaboration, participants take part in a fully immersive engagement.

A wide ranges of individuals enjoy collaboratively creating the Metalagram® art, engageig people of all ages, gender, demographics, and skill sets. The Shinkle’s have collaboratively created with individuals with diverse backgrounds and perceived abilities. The duo worked with the charity Kids Kicking Cancer, ages 2 – 20, spanning a wide range of skills at the Cranbrook Institute of Science resulting in a permanent installation at the Museum. They also created with Central Collegiate Academy High School students through the Beyond Basics charity in Detroit, MI resulting in a permanent installation at Mayor Duggan’s office. The most extensive project to date was with the Detroit Country Day Middle School art students as they collaboratively created a permanent 40’ Metalagram® mobile installed at the Beverly Hills, MI campus.

The artist duo welcomes the opportunity to create art with all sizes and kinds of groups. Small groups, families and individuals can personalize a custom Metalagram® artwork. Charities, businesses and school/groups can collaboratively create a Metalagram® art piece. The original art can be created with or without knowing the permanent destination. If a location is known, we will create an installation best fitting for that space. Groups can choose to create the Metalagram® art for their own use or donate the crowdsourced Metalagram® art to a desirable location such as a hospital or public space such as the Mayor’s office.

The ability for the crowdsourced Metalagram® artwork to engage and energize collaborators and viewers empowers individuals and groups. Demand continues to grow and is desirable for many applications. To maximize this effect, Shinkle Fine Art has an ongoing partnership with the charity Beyond Basics. Beyond Basics uses 1-on-1 tutoring and enrichment programs to promote literacy in inner city Detroit and Pontiac. Together with Beyond Basics the Shinkle’s are improving the destiny of an underserved population by giving them perspective on their own abilities. The students learn how to create something original, to make an original mark and to leave an indelible inspirational artwork for others.
